Vaughn Goettler came from a modest background and worked two jobs to put himself through university. He holds an MBA from McMaster University and a B.Ed. from the University of Toronto.
His career began in Management roles before Vaughn became the CEO of Union Energy, now known as Reliance Home Comfort. After arranging a corporate buyout, Vaughn became an entrepreneur and eventually sold his business.
Vaughn and his wife Lauren are incredibly generous philanthropists and volunteers who have given to local causes including Palliative Care, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum, the Upper Canada Heritage Trail and the Wilderness. Their family of children and grandchildren includes several rescue dogs.
Vaughn has the leadership experience, personal qualities and professional skills to ensure that Niagara-on-the-Lake remains a beautiful, vibrant, safe and prosperous community for all.
Under the Municipal Act, 2001, the Mayor is Chief Executive Officer of the Municipality. Vaughn is the only candidate for Lord Mayor who has actually been a CEO and knows what that kind of leadership requires.
He is running because he loves Niagara-on-the-Lake so much, shares your hopes and concerns, and knows we could do better.
Vaughn has no hidden loyalty to Federal or Provincial leaders, political parties, other municipal politicians, Town staff or powerful special interests.
His only special interest is you. He is the new kind of leader who will listen, and take decisive action to ensure a bright future for this incredible Town.
